Love is in the Air…

It’s nearly Valentine’s Day, and in an effort to help you keep things sweet and simple this year we wanted to share with you our favorite sugar cookie recipe. Bake up a bunch of these delicious treats and decorate them with your special someone or your little sweeties!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes

Servings 48 (unless you eat the dough when no one is looking!)

Ingredients:

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

>Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

>In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.

>Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

A new year has begun and with it, a new opportunity to be the best version of ourselves. Whether that means fitting into those trophy jeans or just making a little extra time for yourself, this is the fresh start that we all crave after weeks of excess.

For us, 2010 begins the first full calendar for blonde birdie. Starting in August, our first few months of operation were a blur of packing, shipping, staying up late, seeking out advertising opportunities, locating unique products and then bringing them straight to you. By the end of December we were tired. We drank too much coffee. We had bags under our eyes.

And we loved every single second of it! With any luck, 2010 will bring more of the same.

As we begin what we hope will be a fast-paced & fun year, we just want to say thank you for helping make 2009 a wonderful time!
